The ash that comes through this tied-universal bellows is between 1200-1800 degrees F. In order to handle such high temperatures the expansion joint has a refractory-lined pipe that functions as a flow-liner inside of it and is only anchored at one end, so the other can slide freely and compensate for expansion and contraction.
